All forms of direct contact have a much higher chance of success if the contact already knows about you. This is why cold calling and unsolicited direct mail, to an unidentified contact can have very low responses.

Each of your main customer groups has different problems and desires. Therefore you need to customize your letters to every single group, with benefits to them of working with you, and make sure you follow up with a phone call every time.

Where Should You Get the Contact Addresses from?

You need to be smart here. Or you can buy a mailing list for €€€. This is what we suggest if you want to save your money and still get a list that will work for you:

  1. Go through your mobile phone address book
  2. Think of which of your customers would actually have contacts to their friends who would also like to benefit from your produts
  3. Talk to associations and various organizations where your potential customers gather regularly
  4. Start collecting contact details of potential customers via your website or run a competition.

There are much more ideas you can come up with. Whatever way you decide to choose, keep in mind that it’s quality, not quantity that counts.
