SEO Penguin Tips

Google Penguin is an inventive algorithm concerned with stamping out misleading websites and low quality content that disguises SEO marketing with original, informative articles. It is constantly updated with new globally reaching software used to flag sites from all over the world that are taking up traffic. You may not realize you are doing something “on purpose” but this is not of importance. You must inform yourself of the changes you need to make to coincide with the changes Google is constantly making. If you do not want to be caught out by their vigilant updates then there are certain rules and steps to follow.

1. Clean up your website

If your website appears cluttered with unnecessary elements, you need to rethink your layout, content and anything that could be possibly considered as spam. Links by other companies, who may or may not finance your mention of them on your site, should be reconsidered for relevance and necessity.

2. Write only Quality Content

When writing and publishing articles, blogs and informative pieces of writing you should not laden them with keywords or irrelevant, repetitive sentences that are not aimed toward a concluding point. Your content must have meaning whether it’s providing reviews, giving input on social topics, advising people on specific wonderments, informing and enlightening visitors of certain things; whatever it is must not be merely a gateway to another website and a sly marketing tactic.

3. Resist inclusion of unnecessary links

Cramming links into your webpage may seem like a good idea in terms of sending traffic to your website or associated sites but this can have negative consequences on your sustainability as a result of Google’s Penguin updates. Your links must be related to the content and not overbearing. It is not a smart idea to have random links scattered about your page with no coherence to the writing. If it is not applicable, you should remove it.

4. Don’t use any automated submission tools

There are lots of online tools or services you can purchase that can be used to “boost” your website traffic  and build tons of links to your website in an instant. Be careful, though, because most of them will probably do more harm than good. Now it’s more effective long term to build great content and let people share it – on social sites, blogs, websites…
What to do once Google has flagged your site
You will need to follow the previous tips to keep on the right side of Penguin. Remove all unnatural links from directories, or any paid links, improve the quality of writing and locate overused keywords. And wait to see will Google accept it. If not, just try more changes until you succeed. However, with SEO for Google, nothing can be guaranteed…
