OK, so you have decided for the foreseeable future to make Ireland your place of work. Congratulations on making that step into the unknown. A leap of faith to pack your bags, saying good bye to your school friends and taking the trip to live on foreign soil, is a huge commitment.
So what made you do it? Only you know the answer to that question. Many of the world's successful entrepreneurs have embarked on such a quest, on foreign soil, and built huge fortunes. Are you going to be one of those people?
So what is it that really motivates your actions? Below is a list of questions that you should consider. Write down the answers, as they will help you understand your true motivation. They will help you make that next step to bettering yourself. They will help you choose your next job or career.
What do you really want from life? - What is your ambition?
- What is your true desire?
- What sets you on fire?
- What makes you jump out of bed in the morning?
- What makes you want to do those extra 5 press-ups in the morning?
- If you are in sales, what makes you dial those 5 extra cold calls?
- If you are writing a letter to a potential employer, what makes you read your letter just one more time, to see if what you have to offer is relevant to the person reading the letter?
- What makes you read sales or self improvement books?
- What makes you really want to win and be the best you can be?
- What are you truly excellent at?
- How do people, including yourself, benefit from the unique attributes that makes you a wonderful person?
- And, most importantly, what makes you want to be a better person?
When you know the answer to these questions, you know your motivation.
A motive is defined as a reason or desire to take action.
Without a clear motive, we might as well just not do anything, since we can not hope to achieve anything that matters to us.
Find your motive, think about your motive. Now create your goals, with your motive as the key driver behind your goal setting. Make sure you write down your goals with a timeline as to when you will achieve them! Start to speak to yourself and other people as though you have already achieved your goals. Start to really believe that you are the person who and think as though you have achieved your goals. Start to visualise yourself with your goals achieved.
What does if feel like to be a real winner? Does it taste, smell, sound and look good?
OK now DO SOMETHING to achieve that goal, because any letter you write, interview you attend, business plan you prepare, when you feel so positive about your self, will guarantee your success.
Good luck, and please do be the best you can be.
